our story
Wilcox Bakery is a small family business that concentrates on producing quality hand crafted cakes, pastries and pies. The business was set up by Steph and Rob in 1984, they were both 18 years old. It was started up originally to earn enough money to visit an uncle in Australia. They baked home made cakes in their mother in laws kitchen and then sold them at Bourne Market (Lincs). Our recipes came from family members, friends and then customers.
Recipes Passed Down Generations
The fruit cake was Steph’s Grandma's recipe, the Almond Tart was her mums and the pastry recipe was Rob's Great Aunt Midges. They were so busy and loved what they did,
that soon it became more serious and they started up Wilcox Bakery. They did
eventually get to visit Australia but 10 years later.
Steph’s brother Paul was brought in to run the bakery with them and we have an
amazing team of workers (family and friends) who have been with us for years. Steph’s mum Pauline retired in her 70’s and was with us from the start. Our main principle is to
make everything from scratch, not one mixture is bought ready prepared. And our
original motto 'Just Like Mother used to Make' stands as strong as it did from that first
day we started…
It has now been passed down to the next generation, Steph and Rob’s daughter Jess,
along with Paul and Wayne Eaton who have worked in the bakery since their teen’s.
